If you’re looking to pamper your eyes and reduce puffiness, this DIY calming gel eye mask is just the treat you need. Made with natural ingredients like pomegranate, agar agar powder, and green tea, this soothing mask hydrates, calms, and refreshes the skin around your eyes—all while being completely free of chemicals and preservatives.
Ingredients and Benefits:
- Pomegranate Juice: Rich in antioxidants and vitamins, pomegranate juice helps fight dullness, and tired skin and brightens the under-eye area. Its natural vitamin C content promotes collagen production, which can help with fine lines and dark circles.
- Agar Agar Powder: A plant-based alternative to gelatin, agar agar creates a gel-like consistency for our mask. It’s also known to help the skin retain moisture, leaving the under-eye area soft and plump.
- Green Tea: Known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, green tea soothes tired eyes and reduces puffiness, while caffeine in green tea can help constrict blood vessels, reducing any swelling or dark circles.
What You’ll Need:
- 1/4 cup fresh pomegranate juice
- 1/4 cup brewed green tea
- 1 teaspoon agar agar powder
Instructions:
- Prepare Your Ingredients: Brew a small cup of green tea. Extract fresh pomegranate juice by blending the seeds and straining them, or use store-bought juice if you prefer.
- Combine: In a small cup, combine the pomegranate juice and hot green tea. Add 1 teaspoon of agar agar powder to the mixture and stir well.
- Let it Set: Pout the thick mixture into a shallow container or individual eye mask moulds (if you have them). Place it in the fridge for about 5-10 minutes to set.
- Application: Once the gel has firmed up, cut small sections to fit under your eyes if you didn’t use moulds. Gently apply the gel mask to your under-eye area and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Lie back, relax, and let the ingredients work their magic.
