The HER CIRCLE Sustainability Cover: Celebrating Mother Earth. The need to shift and modify our decisions for a greener future through conscious lifestyle choices is more imperative today than ever. Embracing sustainability is no longer a trend or a choice, it is a necessity. Her Circle’s Sustainability Cover 2.0 combines earth-friendly practices and our lifestyle choices with a fresh perspective on how modern living, technology and sustainability can co-exist for a better future. On World Environment Day this year, we’re celebrating Mother Earth through a simple narrative of colours, textures and dimensions. At the core of this story, is an artist who has embraced sustainability in life, and inspires others to adopt eco-friendliness as a natural way of life.

This year, Her Circle has teamed up with actor, writer and sustainability advocate Kalki for the Sustainability 2.0 cover. The covershoot follows the carbon-neutral covershoot model established by Her Circle last year. From location to catering, styling to use of natural light, every element in this shoot adheres to sustainable and mindful practices. This year, we selected a location that was industrial in nature, yet sustainable in the space of energy conservation. The shoot features an iconic sustainability advocate who believes in going minimal for maximum impact, Kalki. This end-to-end sustainable shoot with zero wastage is our second successful attempt to set an example for the future of photoshoots. The journey has been captured in this special video. We loved creating this initiative. You will love it too!

SUSTAINABLE IS FASHIONABLE: “It's the need of the hour - fashion is all about being relevant. It's all about being slightly ahead of your time. Fashion needs to look forward and say, okay, sustainability is our future. It's going to be the answer for the next ten years if we want to continue on this planet. So, it is very much fashionable to be sustainable,” – Kalki.

GREEN PARENTING: “Exposing your kids to as many different things as possible when they're young gives them the opportunity for choice and lets them decide what they want. Because we lived in a very small apartment in Mumbai, my daughter didn't have the kind of space that I grew up with in South India. So we made this decision to move to Goa where we have a garden and we have trees, and she discovers earthworms and spiders and unfortunately, there are also snakes. But she's aware of the dangers of certain animals. She knows that the food that we get is not coming just magically from a supermarket. It's actually grown by people,” – Kalki.

MINDFUL LIVING: “When I am living back in Goa, we have really gone local when it comes to everything. Be it our transport, so we're cycling a lot, we are ordering our food from local farmers and old people who live close to us. The food we are getting is not travelling by air and then by land and by sea. We're eating mostly seasonal; it's great to try and work local. And that's the way we're going to reduce the carbon footprint. Even with ordering stuff online, choose companies that package things in a more sustainable way using less plastic - that can really make a difference,” – Kalki.
