Women have always been a part of the film industry, but very rarely is their path to recognition and fame an easy one. As things are slowly changing, we’re seeing that some of the most anticipated projects, over the last few years, are being helmed by women. One such pathbreaker is Alankrita Shrivastava. She is a writer, director and producer who has movies like Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare and Lipstick Under My Burkha as well as shows like Bombay Begums, Made In Heaven and Modern Love (one episode) in her repertoire of work. Her characters are always women who are on a mission to embrace their real selves and destroy the shackles of patriarchy, and hey, we’re here for it! In an interview with Her Circle, Shrivastava talks about her journey, her upcoming ventures and gives out some advice for aspiring filmmakers.
