Dear Younger Me,
First and foremost, you'll get through it—through this, through everything. It's not the end of the world, no matter how bad things appear. It's not the end if it's not okay.
You stress out so much about the future. Well, what if I told you that life is best experienced at the moment? This is yours right now...right here, right now. This is the time of your life. The way things are now? They won't always be like this. Things will change, and you will change too. But whatever stage of life you're in right now, it's yours to claim. So go ahead and claim it. Enjoy every moment.
Are you worried that things are going out of your hand? Take control of your life. One day at a time. And I don’t mean you act impulsively just because it feels right. Sit back, and ponder. Make decisions that you are proud of. Claim every breath you take. Take advantage of the situation and own it, instead of complaining. Nobody else will be able to help you. Nobody else has the authority to think for you, love for you, or live on your behalf. It is up to you to do your own believing, forgiving, and living.
You’ll see, this is how you live a life with few regrets—you accept all you encounter, even if it is unpleasant. Because when you do that, you are doing what you were born to do; you are being alive.
Every ups and downs, every sorrow and delight are all part of the journey. This is your life, and you must not be ashamed of who you are.
Everything under the sun, including you, has a place and a purpose. You don't have to feel bad about figuring things out on your own, at your own pace. You are not required to follow in the footsteps of others. You have your own value and place in the world.
Don't believe a single one of the millions of ways you can be persuaded you're not enough. Who you are is good enough. Accept yourself right now, and you'll be surprised at who you can become.
Don’t be in denial of your situation. This is the key to transformation, success, and happiness, and it's right in front of your eyes, right now, right in your heart.
Sure, you'll make mistakes. But you'll figure it out. And long after you think you've got it all figured out, you'll grow and tumble over, again. That's alright. You're not alone in this.
Some walks will have to be taken alone, but it doesn't stop you from feeling like a child of the earth, breathing in the essence of the universe.
Don't forget how valuable it is to be alive, and don't undervalue your own existence. Everyone has wounds, is terrified of something, and desires to belong above all else.
The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know. That is the distinction between wisdom and knowledge. Wisdom is strength if knowledge is power. You'll learn one day how much courage it takes to count on people, how being vulnerable implies being honest, and how forgiveness heals. Pay attention to what makes you feel better and stick to it.
If you're terrified of falling in love again, go ahead and do it anyway. When you're frightened to ask for assistance, just do it anyway.
Consider it a blessing to get back up when life knocks you down. Demonstrate to the rest of the world how you can transform sorrow into love, an end into a beginning, and darkness into light. You must be your own rescuer.
Finally, remember that it's never too late to be who you could have been. You can always start afresh.
With Love,
Me
