4 Essential Egg Recipes

Karishma Sen|May 27, 2021

If you're looking to change things up with your breakfast menu, and are wondering what to do with eggs, try out these four recipes.

RECIPE

Classic Omelette

Serves: 1
Ingredients:
2 Eggs
1 tablespoon milk
1 tablespoon butter/ olive oil
½ tomato, chopped, optional
Salt and pepper

Method:
On a medium bowl, beat the eggs, milk and a pinch of salt.

Melt the butter/ add in a medium non-stick pan over medium heat.

Pour in the beaten eggs. Stir and shake the pan, moving the eggs around until a few curds form. Reduce the heat to low, then spread the eggs until the still-runny egg covers the entire bottom of the pan.

At this stage you may add any fillings that you would like (chopped tomatoes, mushrooms, grated cheese)

Let the omelette cook until the eggs are fully set, 1-2 minutes, then gently roll the omelette and transfer to a plate. The surface should be smooth with no color.
Now enjoy with toast!

Sunny – Side up!

Serves: 1
Ingredients:
1 Egg (at room temperature)
1 tablespoon butter/ olive oil
Salt and pepper

Method:
Add oil or melt the butter in a non-stick pan over high heat.

Crack the egg into the pan and let it cook until the egg whites begin to change to a semi-solid state, about 1 minute.

Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover with a lid on for 1 minute to finish cooking the egg. Then, uncover and remove the egg from the pan.

Now enjoy on toast!

Scrambled Eggs

Serves:
Ingredients:
4 Eggs
2 tablespoon milk
1 ½ tablespoon butter/ olive oil
Salt and pepper

Method:
In a bowl, whisk the eggs and milk. Add salt and pepper to taste. Whisk to combine.

Add oil or the butter to a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once the oil/butter begins to bubble, turn the heat to low, and add the eggs.

Using a spatula, gently push the eggs back and forth across the pan until they are cooked to your liking.

Now enjoy on toast!

Boiled Eggs

Serves: 3 (2 eggs per individual)
Ingredients:
6 eggs (room temperature)

Method:
Bring a pot of water to a boil.

Once the water is bubbling hard, gently drop the eggs into the water and cover with a lid.

If you want a nice almost runny center i.e. a soft boiled, cook the eggs for exactly 6 minutes; for medium boiled eggs with a nice gooey, buttery center cook for an extra 2 minutes i.e. 8 minutes; and 11 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.

Once cooked for appropriate time, scoop out the eggs and immediately transfer to an ice bath/ cold water for the yolks to stop cooking further.

Peel the eggs and enjoy!
