No matter if you're a renter or home owner, the thought of rodent or pests simply doesn’t bode well. The entire situation is a big disaster that nobody ever wants to deal with. There are steps you can take to keep the mice at bay before they ever invade your home. If they’ve already let themselves in, there are several ways to get rid of them without hurting them. These are some affordable, eco-friendly options to rid yourself of a rodent problem.
Peppermint oil
Rodents have very sensitive noses and the smell of peppermint is too strong for them. Dab some peppermint oil on a cotton ball. Then, place the cotton balls strategically throughout the apartment. You can also place peppermint plants near the entry points of your house to prevent the mouse entering your house.
Cloves
Mice hate the strong pungent smell of cloves and it will repel them from entering your apartment. Tie up whole cloves in a cotton cloth and place them near the entrance points. You can also soak cotton balls in clove essential oil and place them at entry points.
DIY Repellent Spray
For this you will need ¼ cup mild detergent, 2 tablespoon tabasco sauce, 1 teaspoon pepper, 2.5 litres water and a spray bottle. Pour the mixture into the spray bottle and spray the liquid on areas where mice come frequently.
Aluminium Foil
For reasons not known to us, mice don't like the feel or sound of foil which makes it a perfect way to humanely repel mice from your apartment. Cover entrances or the things with aluminium foil in the night. In the morning you can fold the foil and reuse it.
