Watching movies is one of my all-time favourite things to do. It’s such a great escape to break the monotonous chain of daily events. And stay-at-home movie nights are a super special way to chill and spend some quality time with your family or friends.
To help you make your evening extra special, we’ve put together the best ideas to organise a funky movie night, so that you can enjoy making memories together in the comfort of your home!
DIY Movie Tickets
Once you’ve picked the movie and set the date and time, to make a real event out of the evening, craft your own cinema tickets. Either print out a template online or grab some card and your finest set of felt tips/sketch pens, and get creative. When it’s time for the opening credits to roll, make sure everyone has their tickets on them before they enter the lounge.
Get Cosy
Turn your living room into a boutique intimate cinema for the evening. Set up a cosy viewing area but remember to keep it as cushy as possible. Spread out mattresses across the floor or bring out your air mattresses and sleeping bags. Keep plenty blankets and throw pillows/cushions handy. If you have the space, build a blanket fort or set up a tent for the kids.
Audio/Visual Check
Nothing can ruin movie night like poor audio-visual quality. For the ultimate at-home movie experience, screen the movie on your television, or better yet, a projector! If stay-at-home movie nights are something you do often, and you have a big empty wall or a ceiling, splurge on a movie projector screen.
Strong audio is an essential part of the viewing experience, to make the experience even more authentic, invest in Bluetooth speakers. There are many compact and affordable options available in the market.
Cinema Snackables
It’s not movie night if you don’t have binge worthy snacks. Set up your own personalised popcorn and candy bar complete with popcorn tubs. You can even have a beverage station where you can serve milkshakes, soft drinks, or even hot chocolate. You can also serve family portion snacks – chips and dip, or nachos. For those health conscious guests, you can serve salad cups or fruit plates. Of course, don’t forget to order for lots of pizza!
Lights Out!
Dim the lights as low as possible, set the space by draping some fairy lights across your living room. You can also have popcorn or candy scented candles to create the perfect ambience.
