As spring makes its way into our pandemic-dominated lives, the days seem longer and gloomier than usual. It’s that time of the year when we are either planning our summers or packing up for a weekend breaks but this year understandably it’s hard to bring in the wanderlust. So instead of holing up at home and drowning yourselves in what could’ve been, give your home a face lift! Trust me this is a much better way to cosy up and plan your celebrations at home.
Spruce up your wall
We all have that one wall that we ignore, and nobody likes to stare at a blank wall all day long. Start brainstorming, think about what makes your mind calm and happy and the rest is easy. Give that wall some character by putting up store bought wall accents, framed postures or install DIY pieces like a chalkboard to write down a favourite quote or frame one of your captured memories from a vacation.
Layers of warm tone light
Create layers of light with a combination of string lights, decorative battery lights in shape of candles, table and floor lamps. Use dimmers to change up the ambiance on your overhead lights and ceiling fixtures.
Decorate with pastel tones
A natural jute rug, bright white seating, and crisp moulding makes the space sophisticated. Invest in little pops of mint and coral on pillows and some pastel bedding or table cloths or napkins set up at the dinner table.
Must-have shaggy accents
You know the big furry pillows and soft rugs we like to run our hands over just to feel the texture? Now is a good time to buy them! Woolly, shaggy, rich velvet, or knit should be your go-to to make your space look cosier, and add some character. Add a throw blanket or accent pillow, or even on an ottoman or coverlet in the above fabrics to give your home some rustic character.
Seasonal scented candles
Having a drawer full of scented candles never hurt anybody. They ensure that you won’t be stuck in the dark, fill your home with some of your favourite scents, calm your mind, and create an ambience required for any occasions. Just remember, don’t leave candles unattended.
Cut the gloom with some greenery
Bring home some easy to maintain plants and succulents that will add colour to the drab weather and add a touch of vibrancy to your space.
