Whether it is moving your furniture around, adding some decorative pieces, or letting those decorators give your home a complete overhaul, there’s really no better feeling than walking into your space that’s catering to your taste and sensibilities. However, a transformation doesn’t mean having to invest in expensive pieces. Sometimes, all you need is paint, a hot glue gun, and pretty fairy lights. Here are five ideas to help your take some recyclable items and turn your space from drab to fab:
1. Turn glass bottles in decorative lights
If you have ever ordered a cold beverage from your favorite restaurant, you will notice that it comes in a glass bottle. Instead of discarding them, you can try your hands on some cool DIYs to turn them into decorative lights and strategically place them around a room to add some ambient or mood lighting. Simply fill the bottle with some fairly lights, and voila! You could even use different coloured bottles for added effect.
2. Mason jars as holders
When you have used your mason jar for your favorite beverages and are looking for something new to do with it, why not let the jar serve as a planter for your small plants and succulents? You could also color the jar and use it as a holder for your dental kit in your bathroom.
3. Give empty photo frames a new errand
If you have empty photo frames lying around, you could turn it into an errand board to keep a track of all your chores and reminders. Additionally, you could showcase your creative side and create a new masterpiece to hang in your home.
4. Use old suitcases as a side table cum storage unit
We may find a lot of old suitcases at our homes, which are mostly just full of random things, and occupy unnecessary space. You could give them a new lease of life as you stack them to make a side table. Place easily movable items at the top, like a small plant or your diaries, while you store other documents and belongings in the suitcase.
5. Upcycle tyres to make quirky furniture
Use old tyres from cars or bicycles, to make a quirky furniture set. The car tyres will serve the purpose of a seat, while the bicycle tyres will make up the handles and the back rest. Color it however you like, and top it off with a cushion for that added comfort.
