The Mumbai region of India Post has decided to share the Christmas and New Year celebrations with the people of Kamathipura by gifting them an "all-women post office," which was inaugurated on December 21, 2021.
Swati Pandey, Postmaster General of India Post, Mumbai Region, performed the inauguration. According to a press release provided, the major goal of this unusual effort is to give residents a safe, healthy avenue to settle their financial questions 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The "all-women post office" will offer comprehensive investment services to Kamathipura residents, including Savings Bank (SB), recurrent deposit (RD), time deposit (TD), public provident fund (PPF), and monthly income scheme (MIS), which are primarily targeted at women.
Services such as new enrolment and Aadhaar card updates will also be available.
In addition, the aforementioned facility would offer the opening of accounts under the Sukanya Samruddhi Yojana (SSYA) in order to incentivise the girl children and stabilise their financial future, according to the press release.
