The Indian economy is currently undergoing a phenomenon known as ‘The Great Resignation’. The Great Resignation is a term that denotes a trend in the economy where a record number of people quit their jobs, something seen as an aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. As per a recent survey report called ‘Diversity Benchmarking Report’ by women-focused career platform JobsForHer, there seems to be a gender-based disparity in the attrition rate among women and men.
As per the report, the overall attrition rate among employees was nine per cent while the attrition rate among women professionals was higher at 13 per cent. It was further revealed that the current corporate ecosystem for female workers is in need of improvement. The report is based on data collected from more than 300 companies including 73 per cent of large enterprises and 27 per cent of SMEs and start-ups from a variety of industries like IT, BFSI, FMCG and pharma.
Neha Bagaria, the CEO and Founder of JobsForHer said in a statement about the report’s findings, “It is heartening to see several organisations taking a step in the right direction to make the workplace more women-friendly. We are hopeful that this trend will enable and encourage more women returnees, women in tech and women in leadership to enter the workforce and climb the professional ladder, while ensuring gender parity across all levels.”
