Culture startup Indic Inspirations recently opened doors to India’s first art and culture ‘Phygital Store’ in Pune. The store is Indic Inspirations’ first such Experience Centre that allows visitors to scan and pick as well as experience stories of Indian culture and heritage through videos, story cards as well as different objects. The aim of the store is to provide artisans a platform to make their work known, showcase what goes into making an artwork as well as for customers to have a seamless online and offline experience with Scan and Pick.
The startup works with 65+ crafts, more than 400 artisans, heirloom makers as well as local communities with the aim to empower them and provide a showcasing platform. “India has over 3000 crafts, 10M+ artisans, and a meagre 2 per cent of the world handicrafts market of $42 billion. Creating a new set of products that represent various facets of India was a crying need to help increase India’s soft power as well as increase artisanal incomes and help them get back their pride,” said the firm’s co-founder, Sunil Jalihal, in an interview with Indian Retailer.
The firm also set out to narrate stories of India’s institutions of eminence, which led to Indic Inspirations becoming Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) First Registered Merchandiser as a part of the latter’s merchandising program for their Capacity Building Program Office.
