UK-based Marks & Spencer has unveiled a new line of more inclusive lingerie. The new collection, which comes under the brand’s “Nothing Neutral About It” campaign, includes lingerie and innerwear in a vast range of neutrals that cater to people of different skin tones as well as a bigger size range. The brand launched the collection with a campaign video featuring women with different body types, skin tones as well as age, conveying the collective message: Nothing Neutral About It.
The brand explains in a statement how the new launch was followed by the death of George Floyd, an African-American man who was killed by a police officer earlier last year. The incident gave rise to a global “Black Lives Matter” movement which was aimed at shedding light on racial inequalities prevailing in society. The store said in the statement: “With changes already in motion to really redefine inclusive colours within lingerie, last year the team was driven to go harder and faster, fuelled by the global conversation on racial inequality, following the horrific death of George Floyd, as well as clear customer feedback on industry standard colour names such as ‘tobacco’.”
The new line of lingerie includes T-shirt bras, lace bras and underwired bras which include up to F and H cup sizes as well as knickers and briefs going up to a UK size 28, along with slips and its Flexifit crop tops.
