One of the biggest luxury groups in fashion, Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton—more commonly known as LVMH—has released a comprehensive social and environmental responsibility report for the first time. The report highlights the group’s commitments and initiatives in the ethical and sustainable space.
The group is parent to 75 luxury brands, including Louis Vuitton, Dior, Bulgari, Sephora, Tiffany & Co. and many more, making it one of the largest groups when it comes to fashion and lifestyle. The group’s fashion division contributed to a waste of 16,603 metric tons in 2018, second to its wines and spirits division, which produced 65,423 metric tons of waste in the same year.
With its social and environmental responsibility report, the French luxury group charts its goals and initiatives to achieve social equality as well as sustainable responsibility across the group. As per an independent audit, the group’s carbon footprint is also charted across its various business divisions.
Notably, its group waste production, which shot up from 80,787 metric tons in 2016 to 102,184 metric tons in 2018, showed a steady decline to 95,620 metric tons in 2019 and 80,690 metric tons in 2020.
The report also highlights its initiatives towards waste recycling, employee well-being, COVID-19 relief management, eco-friendly packaging and it's more circular approach towards natural resources.
