Jhulan Goswami, veteran Indian cricketer and former captain of the Indian national women's cricket team, is all set to bowl over the world of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) with Dubai-based CricFlix, in association with RevSportz and Fanatic Sports. The company is launching its first-ever cricket NFT auction in Dubai on December 24, with Goswami being the first female cricketer to enter the same, as reported by News 18.
As of today, pre-bids worth US $200,000 have been placed already. This initiative aims to generate investment opportunities for cricket fans while making rare and significant collectables accessible to them.
“We, at CricFlix, are providing powerful transformations into the metaverse by bringing world-class cricket memorabilia with a renowned history behind it. It is an investment piece of a rare asset class for the future generations where the metaverse and the physical world come together and thrive,” said Anwar Hussein, Co-Founder of CricFlix.
Apart from Goswami’s jersey, cricket fans will be able to access rare cricket memorabilia from the past of veteran players such as CK Nayudu, as well as rare artefacts. Talking about the benefits of NFT purchase, Prantik Majumdar, Co-Founder of RevSportz said, “A fan can now own a piece of history in the form of digital memorabilia and this is what makes the NFT technology such a game-changer. By bringing decentralisation to the world of sports, NFTs also provide athletes at all levels an opportunity to start earning an income from fans.”
“I am very pleased. May I say this should be the start for many other colleagues of mine to unlock NFT value and reach out to fans,” Goswami expressed.
