A new study that was recently released reveals that India’s electric vehicle (EV) sector has registered a whopping growth of 108 per cent, and women are playing a key role in the sector now. The survey, conducted by Bengaluru-based recruitment and staffing company, CIEL HR Services, included an employee base of 15,700 people, spread across more than 52 companies.
The survey, titled Latest Employment Trends in EV Sector 2022, revealed that Bengaluru is the hottest location for EV talent, with 62 per cent job postings emerging from this region. This lead is followed by Delhi with 12 per cent job postings, Pune with nine per cent, Coimbatore with six per cent and Chennai with three per cent. The growth is, therefore, spearheaded in Indian metropolitan cities.
The survey also reveals that within the EV sector, the engineering function is dominating job trends, followed by operation, sales, quality assurance, business development, IT, human resource and marketing. Leading EV companies have hired 2,236 employees over the last six months.
What’s more, women are emerging as key players within the sector too. Companies like Kinetic Green, Mahindra Electric Mobility, Convergence Energy Services Limited, OBEN Electric Vehicle and Ampere Vehicles have women in top management positions. Women’s participation across all functions of the sector is also growing steadily.
“We have always been working towards understanding hiring strategies, employer demands and workplace trends across different industries from across India,” Aditya Narayan Mishra, CEO of CIEL HR Services, said. “The insights from the study will help companies in strategic decision-making related to the Talent Ecosystem.”
