India Art Fair is all set to present its 13th edition between February 3 to 6 next year in Delhi. The event is one of the biggest cultural showcases modern and contemporary art from artists across South Asia. While its last edition was a digital one due to pandemic-induced restrictions, the event is all set to make a physical comeback next year.
Apart from being back with a physical event, the Indian Art Fair 2022 is set to be more inclusive and accessible as well. In an interview with Livemint, Jaya Asokan, Fair Director of India Art Fair said, “We have given a lot of thought to how to make our editorial, programming and other offerings more open, inclusive and accessible. From auditorium talks and performances to artist-led workshops, masterclasses and outdoor commissions, our public programme will also be curated to speak to a diverse range of audiences from artists, collectors and those who have no prior experience of the art world, in a hope to initiate conversations and spark fresh interests and ideas.”
To be more all-inclusive, the event will include braille guides and tactile representations of important artworks, along with sign language interpreters and wheelchair services provided for visitors. There will also be feeding rooms for new mothers to be at ease. The fair will also see the participation of about 14 not-for-profit organisations and institutions, shedding light on their efforts at the grass-root level.
Along with young and newer artists, visitors can also expect to see artworks by renowned artists like Yayoi Kusama, Amrita Shergil, Anish Kapoor, Bharti Kher and more. The event will include talks, performances, films as well as workshops apart from art showcases.
