For the first time ever, the Indian Institute of Management – Raipur has admitted more girls than boys in its prestigious post-graduate programme in management for the 2022 - 2024 batch. For the first time in the history of the institute, 205 female applicants and 125 male applicants were offered places in the course. This is a big boost especially considering that last year, the institute admitted 146 boys and 120 girls.
This latest round of admissions has overturned the gender equation of the programme with the girls leading by 20 per cent. Over the last few years, various campuses of the institute have seen a better gender balance with the IIMs in Raipur, Kozhikode, Indore, Bangalore and Udaipur witnessing a steady rise in women applicants. This could stem from the fact there has been a significant rise in women in upper management roles across various industries. This is very encouraging for aspiring female applicants.
