The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) released the rankings of all the states in the country under different categories for the implementation of GeM (Government e Marketplace) portal. Gujarat bagged the first position in the category ‘Procurement Through Women Entrepreneurs’, with the highest e-procurement of ₹697 crores in India. Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh are in the second and third positions, with e-procurements worth ₹626 crores and ₹185 crores, respectively.
The ‘Kreta-Vikreta Gaurav Samman Samaroh’ 2023 is organised by the GeM of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to award the top performers of GeM India. Gujarat won an award in the Platinum category and three awards each in the Gold and Silver categories at the event.
The awards reflect the State Government’s transparent and cost-effective public procurement and the promotion of successful entrepreneurship stories. Gujarat ranked second in the ‘Highest Total Order Value’ category worth ₹7963.8 crores, and the ‘Highest Service Procurement’ category worth ₹2151.3 crores, along with the H’ighest Procurement through MSE vendors’ with ₹3195.4 crores. The state took the third position in the category of ‘Total Number of Orders’ with 2,99,718 orders, procurement through start-ups worth ₹218 crores and best engagement with 9,553 vendors.
