Online Business to Business (B2B) marketplace, Flipkart Wholesale, has launched its online platform for fashion retailers in seven Bihar cities: Patna, Purnea, Katihar, Munger, Madhubani, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur. Suppliers and retailers that would ordinarily travel to major fashion hubs like Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, among others, will now be able to source their merchandise through Flipkart Wholesale’s app. The launch of the online marketplace in the increasingly grim phase of COVID-19, may serve as a relief for many. Flipkart Wholesale also aims to expand the availability of the platform to other cities in Bihar as well, in the coming months.
“Bihar is an important state for us, and we are excited about growing our footprint here. At Flipkart Wholesale, our key goal is enabling the digital transformation of kiranas and MSMEs using locally developed technology and strong supply-chain capabilities. We are confident that this technology-driven platform in Bihar will help local businesses create new livelihood opportunities, boost the local economy, and build a more resilient retail ecosystem,” of Flipkart Wholesale’s Senior Vice President and Head, Adarsh Menon, said in a statement.
The online B2B platform has so far expanded to over 3,000 pin codes and enabled over seven lakh listings for footwear, accessories, and clothing for retailers, since the launch of its fashion category in September last year. The platform also gives access to a credit facility, order returns, product deliveries with order tracking along with its range of ‘Flipkart assured’ products. Customers can also get access to micro-market level B2B and B2C insights from the Flipkart ecosystem made available to them, helping them understand customer-specific demands in their area.
