A popular e-commerce retailer for women’s apparel, best known for women’s lingerie and undergarments, recently suffered a data breach. The breach exposed the personal information of the website’s 1.5 million users, most of which are women. The information, which is now up for sale, includes names, contact details as well as shipping addresses of the customers.
The India Today Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), who reached out to the seller as a potential buyer for the data, further revealed that the hackers are willing to sell the data for $500 in cryptocurrencies. Additionally, the hackers also sent OSINT a sample set of data of more than 1,500 users of the website. On crosschecking, OSINT found out that the data was legitimate and belonged to actual users of the website.
This, however, is not the first time such a data breach has occurred in the recent past. Recently, a popular furniture and electronic rental platform and a professional networking website also experienced similar kinds of data breaches.
