Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal recently announced the launch of an e-marketplace, ‘Dilli Bazaar’, where the city’s traders would be able to have their own e-commerce store. The online marketplace is said to support both direct-to-consumer, business-to-business ventures, as well start-ups on its platform, enabling various local businesses to get substantial promotions on the portal.
Dilli Bazaar will also have virtual markets where people can go through shops, identify products of their choice and buy them. It will also host virtual exhibitions. As mentioned by Kejriwal, Delhi’s prominent markets like Khan Market, Lajpat Nagar and the fashion-favourite Sarojini Nagar are expected to have a presence on the portal. The portal is said to be up and running by August next year.
“Delhi entrepreneurs will soon have their e-marketplace, Dilli Bazaar, where every small and big entrepreneur will have their e-commerce store. Dilli Bazaar will be a state-of-the-art path-breaking portal that will give a global online identity to entrepreneurs of Delhi and through the portal, shoppers will be able to go on virtual walkthroughs of Delhi’s markets, buy any product they like from their home itself,” said the chief minister. “Delhi’s GDP, tax revenues, and economic activities will see a monumental rise after the launch of Dilli Bazaar portal; global business will come to Delhi,” he added.
Many such markets, that went through a COVID-induced slowdown are expected to improve their customer reach through the portal, establishing a better virtual connect at the same time.
