As per the 2021 edition of the Burgundy Private Hurun India list of 500 most valuable companies list, Tata Consultancy Services has emerged as the employer of the highest number of women in India with 1,78,357 women employees. In total, TCS employs 5,06,908 employees with a value of ₹13,09,488. The report also revealed that the top 500 companies in the nation employ more than 6.9 million Indians, with an average of 13,800 employees per company.
Second in line after TCS when it comes to employing women, Infosys has a female workforce of 1,000,321 out of a total of 2,59,619 employees. However, Quess Corp comes second to TCS where the total number of employees is concerned. This company has 3,63,136 employees, which includes 61,733 women.
In the banking sector, ICICI Bank emerges as the leader in employing women with 31,059 women employees. HDFC Bank follows as the second banking giant with 21,746 women employees. Reliance Industries employs 19,561 women out of a total of 2,36,334 employees.
The list, compiled by Burgundy Private and Hurun India—which included top 500 private companies headquartered in India and excluded public and subsidiaries of foreign companies—also states that when it comes to women on the Board of Directors, four Indian companies top the list: Godrej Consumer Products, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, Godrej Agrovet, and India Cements. Each of these companies has five women directors each. Among the top 500 companies in India, 644 have women on the board of directors.
