In a first, actor Lily D Moore is all set to make her debut as the lead in a Hallmark romantic holiday movie. Moore, who already has great acting credits, like Never Have I Ever on Netflix and Single Drunk Female on Freeform. Another actor with Down syndrome, David DeSanctis, will also star in the movie.
The movie, Hallmark revealed, has already wrapped production and will be aired in 2022’s holiday season. The plot of the movie also highlights the life and challenges faced by a character with the genetic disorder, which Hallmark is attempting as a part of their initiative to make their content more inclusive and reach more diverse audiences. At the same time, the initiative is also focused on starting conversations around the representation of disabilities in mainstream media.
The story follows Moore’s character, Kendall, who is a gifted painter brought up by a single mom and grandmother. Moore meets and falls for DeSanctis’ Brad, which throws up challenges her family hasn’t encountered before. The plot deals with Down syndrome, living with a genetic disorder, caregiving, being an empty-nester—all themes which are diverse and can resonate with a large chunk of the global population.
“Everyone has a dream to fall in love and get married one day, even people with disabilities,” Moore said in a statement. “I hope viewers take away that ‘Color My World With Love’ is about painting your own story through your emotions and that we all have endless possibilities.”
