According to a recent LinkedIn report, crypto-related job postings with titles containing terms like "bitcoin," "ethereum," "blockchain," and "cryptocurrency" increased 395 per cent in the US from 2020 to 2021, outpacing the wider tech industry, which saw a 98 per cent increase in listings during the same period.
While the majority of the job ads were in the software and finance areas, demand for crypto talent is also increasing in other industries. Professional services such as accountancy and consulting, as well as the staffing and computer hardware industries, are among them.
Blockchain developers and engineers were among the most popular job titles on LinkedIn, according to LinkedIn news. According to LinkedIn, the San Francisco Bay Area, Austin, Texas, New York City, Miami-Fort Lauderdale, and Denver had the most crypto job posts in 2021.
Meanwhile, the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City, Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, Greater Philadelphia, and Los Angeles were the five cities with the most crypto job ads in 2020.
According to data from Pitchbook, employment demand increased last year as investors poured $30 billion into crypto and blockchain firms in 2021. Not to mention high-profile tech advocates such as Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey, as well as celebrities such as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Bollywood's Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Ranveer Singh, who have all endorsed cryptocurrency.
Meanwhile, the Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill, 2021 is yet to be introduced in India's Lok Sabha. The Bill also aims to outlaw all private cryptocurrencies in India, with some exceptions to promote cryptocurrency's underlying technology and applications.
Despite these legislative roadblocks, the 2021 Global Crypto Adoption Index indicated that India ranks second in cryptocurrency adoption. In India, bitcoin investments rose dramatically in 2021, with cryptocurrency exchange WazirX recording a record trade volume of over $43 billion in 2021, representing a 1735 per cent increase over 2020.
The most popular cryptocurrencies on the exchange were Bitcoin (BTC), Tether (USDT), Shiba Inu (SHIB), Dogecoin (DOGE), WazirX Token (WRX), and Matic (MATIC). Bitcoin was more popular among women, whereas Shiba Inu was more popular among men.
Cryptocurrencies like Dogecoin, Ethereum, and Shiba Inu also topped 'Google's 2021 Year in Search,' which was announced this week by the Alphabet-owned search engine. The top ten most-Googled news stories of the last year were "Dogecoin" and "Ethereum price" around the world.
