Dr. Ruhi Satija is a psychiatrist and counseling therapist by profession. Ruhi is a mental health advocate and a mother of a toddler. In spite of a busy schedule of juggling between her practice and nurturing her child, she willingly devotes her remaining hours of the day to educate and raise awareness about mental health through Social Media (Instagram).
While growing up, she was dealing with anxiety. There was not much awareness about mental health back then, and being a medical professional sometimes one tends to get negligent of their own health. But when things spiraled out of hand, she knew that she had to seek help and that’s when her journey of healing, therapy and medications began. Fortunately, since her field was the same, it was easy to understand what she was going through and had quick access to help too. That’s why she lauds her profession, psychiatry that came to her rescue and helped understand herself better. One of the main reasons she chose psychiatry as a career is to assist others and help them cope with their mental health.
Ruhi firmly believes that if anyone wants to understand about themselves, they should seek therapy. And it should not just be limited to adults, children too should be taught about mental wellness early on in their life.
