Kavya Sharma's journey began with a moment that changed everything. At the age of 12, she survived a devastating accident that took her mother’s life and left her with serious leg injuries. What followed was years of multiple surgeries, and eventually the toughest decision of her life - amputation.
But this is not a story about what she lost. It’s about what she chose to build.
In 2021, she consulted a doctor who told her she didn’t need to live with the discomfort anymore. That advice gave her the clarity she needed. She decided to go for amputation and later for a customised prosthetic.
Kavya started focusing on building strength, balance, and confidence. She joined a gym and began training at home as well.
“My trainer asked if I had any medical issues,” Kavya recalls. “I said no. I use an artificial leg.”
Since then, there’s been no looking back. She does strength training, yoga, meditation, and even home workouts, under expert guidance. She shares it all on social media, creating space for others with prosthetics to feel seen, capable, and confident to start their fitness journeys.
Her mantra is simple: “We are people of determination. Not disability.”
Kavya is a reflection of the core belief of The StrongHER Movement – strength, self-belief and the power to rewrite your own story.
Today, with every rep, she’s building strength and confidence. Kavya shares her fitness routines and progress regularly on social media to inspire others to begin their journey of strength.
