The Indian Women’s Cricket Team has had a good start at the Commonwealth Games 2022, primarily due to their brilliant victory against Pakistan by eight wickets. This victory has improved their chances of making it to the semi-finals too. But this is not the only remarkable record made by the team. Harmanpreet Kaur, the current captain of the Women’s Cricket Team, has created a spectacular Indian captaincy record in T20 International Cricket, surpassing even the legendary Men’s Captain, MS Dhoni.
The victory against Pakistan brought Kaur’s tally of victories in T20 International matches to 42 wins across 71 matches, while Dhoni’s tally is at 41 wins across 72 matches. The tally among women’s cricket captains in T20 Internationals—where Kaur now stands at number three—places Charlotte Edwards (68) at number one, and Meg Lanning (64) in the two leading spots.
“It feels good to win, 1st wins are important,” Kaur said after the win. “There were a lot of positives today & we would try to continue this ahead. It’s important to perform as a unit, we had a good start today & won quickly.”
