Sheema Vohra, Managing Director, Sartha Global Marketing has been a pioneer in tourism representation for more than two decades. With a B.S. in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, U.S.A, Vohra started her career in hospitality and went on to work for Marriott International, as Director India GSO and then Director India & Subcontinent, GSO, as well as handled International Marketing for The Oberoi Group of Hotels.
In 2007, she opened Sartha Global Marketing, today Vohra acts as the India representative of several international tourism boards/ destinations including Brand USA, Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, Virgina Tourism Corporation, Visit California, Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, Mammoth Lakes Tourism, and San Francisco Travel & San Francisco International Airport, to name a few.
Talking about how it all began she said, “My mother was far ahead of her time. She started her career fairly late, so she was a great inspiration for me. And my father has always motivated me to be financially independent. For me service industry has always been fascinating. You can always be yourself, as different as you might be and still make a difference in the industry.”
When we asked her if travel is still a viable business to invest in she lauded the industry and its professionals, and said, “I am just amazed at the ability of this industry of ours to be able to adapt, be flexible and survive this pandemic. So I think we have a great few years ahead of us.”
