The first-ever India UK Outstanding Achiever Honours founded by the National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU) UK in partnership with the British Council in India and the UK's Department for International Trade (DIT) was recently held in London. To celebrate the achievements of Indian students who studied in Britain and to mark 75 years of India's independence, the honours covered 75 high achievers and some key outstanding achievers who bolster the India-UK diaspora.
Indian women's football team goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan along with Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Raghav Chadha, Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla were among key recipients of the honour.
Other ‘Outstanding Achievers’ felicitated with this honour include Samir Saran, President of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) & an alumnus of Anglia Ruskin University, Marya Shakil, Journalist & alumnus of Birmingham City University and Menaka Guruswamy, Senior Advocate & alumnus of the University of Oxford.
The achievers were chosen from over 1000 applications by a jury of educational experts.
