According to NASA, 2022 was the fifth warmest year on record, with global temperatures reaching 1.6 degrees Fahrenheit. This record of high temperatures was witnessed first-hand in India with the rising number of heat waves we witnessed. The ones who are hit worst by such climate changes remain frontline, underprivileged communities as well as women and children. According to Save The Children, an estimated one in four children will be living in areas with extreme water shortages by the year 2040 and the education of almost 38 million children is interrupted by the climate crisis every year.
In this video, we speak to India’s young climate activist Ridhima Pandey about climate change and its effect on women, children and underprivileged communities.
