That tub of gochujang you have been ogling at every time you walk down the supermarket aisle – its time you grab that! Gochujang is a Korean Chili Pepper Paste that’s going viral just like everything from K-drama to K-pop. Typically, when gochujang is used in Korean dishes, it needs to be with sweetness but not in this recipe. Gochujang Fried Rice is a perfect introduction to cooking Korean Cuisine at home
Serves: 2-3 people
INGREDIENTS
• 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 2 teaspoons minced garlic
• 2 teaspoons finely chopped ginger
• 2 large eggs
• 1 cup sliced mixed bell peppers
• 3/4 cup cubed carrots
• 2 tablespoons gochujang paste
• 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
• 4 cups cooked white rice
• 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
• 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
METHOD:
1. Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan/ wok on medium heat.
2. Once the oil is hot, sauté garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
3. Break eggs in the pan/wok and scramble them well.
4. Making sure the egg is cooked through.
5. Now add vegetables and sauté for a minute and a half.
6. Add gochujang paste and mix well.
7. Now add soy sauce
8. Followed by cooked rice and mix everything well.
9. Make sure each grain is coated nicely, you may add more paste according to your taste.
10. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
11. Serve hot.
