2022 is here and you’ve decided you need to be sustainable when it comes to fashion? News flash: you absolutely don’t need to throw out your current wardrobe and replace it all with sustainable pieces. You can still have your current wardrobe and be more sustainable because this 2022 resolution is easier to follow than you thought!
You May Need Few Pieces, Not All
Instead of replacing your entire wardrobe, you can start by buying just a few new clothes or accessories. Try not to buy all your new picks together, you never know what more you’d like with new collections coming out so often. The last thing you’d need is to keep buying new things every season, even if it’s all from a sustainable brand.
Rewear In Different Ways
This is an easy one! Get creative and try unique pairings with your wardrobe. Adding layers, statement accessories, mixing up jewellery and adding prints are a few ways to spice up an outfit and give it a completely new look.
Upcycle
Throwing something away because of a tear or broken embellishments? Take it to your tailor and see if it can get fixed. Undone stitched are also super easy to fix and don’t take too long. If you have an outfit that you simply don’t wear anymore, like an old saree, you can turn it into a completely different outfit and a silhouette that you wear more often. Saris usually have five meters of fabric, making them perfect to turn into lehengas, gowns, dresses and more.

Wardrobe Swap
Swap some pieces with a sibling or a friend. This way you will both have something different and new to wear without having to buy or hoard new pieces. If your sizes differ, you can swap jewellery or even accessories like bags, hats, scarves and more.

Borrow From Your Mom
With vintage and retro styles back in fashion, you can try styling some of your mom’s most cherished pieces while still staying current in your look. After all, there’s nothing more stylish than wearing an authentic retro or vintage piece. Jewellery and saris are also evergreen and can be worn in countless different ways.
