1. Taapsee Pannu
The Thappad star has been praised time and again for unconventional wardrobe choices, and this one isn’t very far from fantastic either. On her recent Russia trip, Pannu sported a block printed, handmade, pure cotton saree from the homegrown brand, Chidiyaa. A unique choice for a trip outside the country, the actress flaunted the saree with ease and looked flawlessly fabulous in it.

The consumerism wave made repeating outfits something that was looked down upon, but with the advent of vintage fashion, that’s starting to change. Sonali Bendre recently wore a Rohit Bal embroidered jacket from two decades back for an event, proving that it’s not only okay but also super-stylish and interesting to reuse clothes from your wardrobe. Famously vocal about sustainability issues, the Harry Potter actress is known for her sustainable yet stunning red carpet looks that left many of us in awe. One such look was this Louis Vuitton dress made from Newlife recycled polyester, created from used plastic bottles. The fabric was sourced, mechanically processed and spun into yarns in Italy, with a fully traceable supply chain. Additionally, the armband was created in a carbon-neutral mill.

American actress and singer, Zendaya, jumped on the vintage couture bandwagon with her vintage Saint Laurent Haute Couture look from 1982, at a recent event. Not only was the outfit an ode to the practice of reusing clothes but was also a homage to its original owner, publishing magnate Eunice Johnson. The blue and black evening dress featured a plunging neckline, puff shoulders and a bow detail at the waist, making it completely red-carpet ready.

As a part of her sustainable lifestyle, her recent wedding celebrations were one of the most talked-about, being a sustainable wedding. While a lot of the wedding décor and facilities were eco-conscious, so was her wedding outfit. She sported an elegant handcrafted red Banarasi saree from the Indian brand, Raw Mango, for her pheras, celebrating not just the joyous occasion but also the beauty of handcrafted textiles.

7. Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra Jonas has never shied away from supporting and putting homegrown as well as handcrafted and conscious fashion pieces on the forefront at various appearances. At a recent event, the actor chose a gown by designer Ronald van der Kemp, made using repurposed materials and archival pieces from his previous seasons. The black number featured a fitted silhouette and statement detailing at the centre.

The fun and stylish set was made in 95 per cent linen and five per cent lyocell, making it biodegradable as well as eco-friendly. It doesn’t stop there: the fabric is also dyed using Azo-Free Dyes and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified ink.

Whether it was her infamous green Versace dress or sparkling outfits in her music videos, JLo has always made fashion statements with her outfits. One of her recent outfits that we instantly fell in love with was her white summer mini dress from the conscious brand, Reformation. The dress is made from flax-derived linen, which uses less water to produce and has transparent supply chain information. The artist sported the conscious dress with easy accessories.

Another celeb who champions homegrown Indian labels is fashion’s favourite, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja. Recently, her dreamy look in Indian label Pero left us in awe. The white, lightweight, handcrafted dress was made by Pero, which prides itself in the pieces it creates with local artisans and Indian handicraft techniques.
