The pre-puberty and puberty phase for girls can be a confusing, curious and difficult time. Various bodily changes like periods, growing breasts and sometimes even acne can throw one off guard. If you think it’s time for you to introduce your child to a bra, this one’s for you!
Time For The Bra Introduction?
Want to make sure you’re not too late or too early when you introduce your daughter to her very first bra? The key is to look out for signs if she will be emotionally as well as physically ready for the change. A bra may be something she chooses to wear all her life, so it’s only sensible to make sure her first experience with it is comfortable and well-informed. And while girls start using bras anytime between 8 years to 14 years, every body is different and it’s best to allow them the space and information to make their own choices. If your child seems to be hinting at wanting to buy her first bra, or you notice a lot of her peers starting to wear bras, it would be a great time to at least talk to her about what a bra really is, its uses as well as the kinds of bras out there. When it comes to physical changes, if you notice any breast developments or discomfort during physical activities, it may be the right time to even take her bra shopping.

The First Bra: Which One Is The Right One
Once you’ve decided to take your daughter through the bra shopping experience, the next step would be to introduce her to the right kinds. Something that’s not too uncomfortable but flattering to her choice and fit would be ideal. Here are some options that could work for your daughter if she is growing up.
Beginner’s Bra
Usually made with soft fabric and designed for the developing body, the beginner’s bra or training bra can easily be used as an everyday bra. It provides ample support without being very uncomfortable and can work well under t-shirts, dresses and even uniforms.

Camisole Bra
This one is a camisole with an in-built bra-like fit to provide support to the breast area. Often well-lined or with soft padding, the camisole bra is another good stepping stone to the real thing. It’s as good as wearing a normal top, making sure the transition to regular bras is gradual.
Sports Bra

Physical training or other activities with developing breasts may seem a bit uncomfortable and confusing. So the best option would be a teenage sports bra to ensure comfort and better support during sports activities at school or otherwise.
Tube Bra
Sometimes the best first bra could be one you can barely notice. If something without straps could make the cut, a tube bra would be the perfect fit. This can also work well for strapless tops or off-shoulder silhouettes without much effort!
