There comes a time when we all want to change things up, get rid of everything we don’t need and start afresh. On the fashion front, that would mean it’s time for a closet cleanse and we’re here to help you with a list of all the stuff you need to get rid of!
That Outfit You Could Never Fit Into
We all have at least one outfit that we never fit into and keep waiting year after year to get a chance to wear it. But here’s the deal- if you haven’t fit into it for at least a couple of years, it’s time for this outfit to move on to someone who will. Consider passing it on to a cousin or friend who would like it!

Jewellery You’re Allergic To
Jewellery is probably the hardest to part with. But if there are baubles that are simply not suited for your skin and cause allergic reactions, as some metals used in fashion jewellery might, it’s time to move on! While these pieces might be great conversation starters, nothing is worth an allergic reaction!

Disintegrating Shoes/Bags
PU shoes and accessories tend to start peeling and disintegrating within a couple of years of use, especially if they’re not used right. And unless these accessories are made of pure leather, they’re almost impossible to repair. Here’s what you can do- pass these on to brands that work on refurbishing them- like Paio & Sole Threads.

Clothes That Cause Rashes
A lot of synthetic or embroidered pieces may prove to be irritable to sensitive skin and may even cause rashes. While embroidered ones can be fixed by adding a sheer layer to them, that can’t be true for synthetic fabrics. It’s best to donate these pieces or to pass them on to friends or family
Shoes That Hurt
There’s nothing more toxic than shoes than hurt. Uncomfortable, painful shoes are super unhealthy for your feet and may cause soft injuries that are just not worth it. It’s best to big goodbye to these rather than keep them stored.

Free Cotton Totes
While a cotton tote may seem like a good alternative to a plastic bag, it has its own set of challenges on the sustainability front. As per a 2018 lifecycle assessment by the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food that recently came to light an organic cotton tote needs to be used 20,000 times to offset the overall impact of its production.

The best thing to do would be to pass them on to someone who doesn’t have one yet, as opposed to hoarding free cotton totes in your wardrobe. They definitely won’t be able to offset their environmental footprint sitting in there!
