With sustainability as the focal point for our hero story of the month, we, at Her Circle, strived our best to keep things at the shoot as eco-friendly as possible. The brands that supported us on the fashion front, played a huge role in not only keeping it sustainable thanks to their brand ideologies but also got our cover women looking and feeling stylish.
With the utmost attention to detail, transparency and artisan employment, The Summer House does spectacularly when it comes to fashion sustainability. The brand, however, does not compromise on style. The silhouettes, while easy, are also modern, whereas the prints and mix of subdued, earthy and vibrant hues are a sartorial add-on. The use of handwoven fabrics like khadi allows the brand to employ local artisans, whereas the swimwear, made from Econyl fabric is made by regenerating fashion nets.

A vast majority of The Summer House’s garments are made from natural fibres like organic cotton and linen. The garments are dyed in facilities equipped with wastewater management, to limit the damage caused by dyeing. The brand also works together with 17 craft clusters across India, enabling the employment of artisans and the revival of many textile crafts. This kind of holistic approach towards sustainability that encompasses consciousness and eco-friendly practices is a true example of what fashion needs today.
