As we stepped back into shoot mode for our Freedom theme cover, our styling focus was a mix of confident, empowered and conscious. We’ll be shedding light on some of the brands featured on our cover girls that were true representatives of the confident and conscious balance.
Founded by mother-daughter duo Karishma and Avantika, Moonray is a well-rounded mix of all things chic, stylish and conscious. The brand’s range of clothing includes an eclectic mix of crafts, from handloom fabrics and embroidery to macrame and crochet. Moonray’s artisans are a part of the brand’s constant efforts to help skill development and improvement. Through the Chanakya Foundation, Moonray helps provide women from low-income communities with a high-quality education in hand embroidery.

While this is the brand’s way of cultural consciousness, Moonray’s fabric choices make it environmentally friendly too. These fabric picks include organic and FSC certified viscose, and certified organic cotton coupled with the use of plant dyes for block printing and hand painting of fabrics. For its bags and shoes, the brand uses plant-based vegan leather, all handcrafted. All of Moonray’s packaging excludes any single-use plastic. Instead, they use recycled plastic, recycled cardboard and reusable cotton bags.

This makes Moonray rooted in culture, conscious yet modern when it comes to design aesthetics. The brand’s range of products includes a denim line, lounge-style sets, as well as a wide selection of quirky yet chic dresses, tops and shirts.
