As we stepped back into shoot mode for our Freedom theme cover, our styling focus was a mix of confident, empowered and conscious. We’ll be shedding light on some of the brands featured on our cover girls that were true representatives of the confident and conscious balance.
Ready-to-wear womenswear brand Cosset Clothing offers a range of classic styles and timeless designs reimagined in natural and eco-friendly materials. Rose Petal fibres, Orange Peel, Pure Cotton Linen, TENCEL, Lyocell, Cotton Bamboo, Ecovero, Pure Cotton and Pure Cotton Wool are some of the sustainable alternatives the brand uses. 'When we were researching and working on the brand before it even took shape, we came across a pool of unexplored natural fabrics that we knew we just had to tap into. Never thought food waste/orange peels, or eucalyptus plant fibres (to name a few!) could be used to make such luxurious, versatile & durable fabrics.

While prepping for each collection, we get a better understanding beyond just the touch and feel these natural fabrics. Some natural fabrics which have been in the market for a long time, like Pure Cotton Linens, Cotton Wool, are still easy to experiment with - owing to the fact that maximum stakeholders involved (designers, suppliers, dyers) are familiar with the intricacies around these fabrics. With newer natural fabrics like Rose Petal Satin, Orange Peel Satin, Lyocell, it's a learning experience for each of us,' says Shriya Suri, Founder and Creative Head at Cosset.

While the brand follows a ready-to-wear model, it avoids dead stock and fashion waste by working with smaller production batches. All this, while keeping its price range relatively accessible and affordable. From basics and dresses, to easy co-ord sets and lounge sets, Cosset’s prices range anywhere between ₹1200 to ₹6000. 'With a vision to sustain a community that values conscious fashion, Cosset Clothing was launched to offer premium everyday essentials, core basics, and investment pieces that build the foundation of a sustainable wardrobe which doesn't wear off with seasons and trends,' says Suri.
'Cosset Clothing was launched keeping in mind the women who value clothes & fashion as a part of their life. It's about understanding the whole process of craftsmanship behind making a piece of clothing and appreciating the efforts,' adds Isha Suri, Co-founder and Social Media Head at Cosset.
