Women’s friendships are often defined by a sense of shared sisterhood aimed at supporting each other through highs and lows. Much like in life, your sisters, girlfriends and even mother can help support you to be more sustainable with your wardrobe too and here’s how!
Swap and Share
While sharing your wardrobe with your mom or sisters may come naturally for your day-to-day sartorial needs, take this a step forward by swapping, sharing and passing down things from your wardrobe to friends and colleagues too. This not only helps you shop less but also helps those around you shop less- collectively reducing consumption.

Shop Better
Do shopping conversations with friends involve talking about or sharing brands that make fashionable clothes? Try adding brands to this list that are also conscious, sustainable or produce less waste. Educating each other about brands and practices that are conscious alternatives to conventional choices will only help you and your girls shop better.
Keep A Check
Ever helped remind a friend to eat less junk food? How about reminding each other to shop less fast fashion? When you’re out shopping together, it’s great to have a friend keep a check on whether or not what you buy is really needed, whether or not it’s mindfully made etc.
Sustainability Goals
Along with fitness goals, you can also make sustainability fun by having collective goals towards a bigger milestone- like having a completely sustainable or capsule wardrobe, doing a closet cleanse or even picking clothes for donations. Sharing and supporting brands you love together is another easy way to be more conscious.
