R|Elan’s newest edition of its eco-friendly EarthTee was just launched in celebration of World Environment Day. The t-shirt is a limited edition and was designed in collaboration with Satya Paul by Rajesh Pratap Singh. One t-shirt is made of 12 recycled PET bottles. EarthTee in previous seasons has collaborated with designers like Anita Dongre and Yavi.
Like EarthTee’s previous editions, its latest version was also made by recycling post-consumer PET Bottles, collected at the recent FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week. These PET bottles were then converted into R|Elan’s sustainable fabric called Green Gold. Green Gold is the greenest fabric with the lowest carbon footprint in the world, made from 100 per cent recycled PET bottles, a zero-waste concept and pre-coloured fibre. The use of pre-coloured fibre helps Green Gold reduce the amount of water and chemicals used in its making as opposed to the conventional practice of wet dyeing of fabrics.
EarthTee, a part of R|Elan’s ‘Fashion for Earth’ is a continued step in the direction of sustainable and circular fashion by the company. Also under R|Elan’s umbrella of eco-friendly fabrics including the Eco Gold fabric which is manufactured in a way that helps the material breakdown into water, carbon dioxide, minerals etc., much like natural fabrics; and the GreenGold EcoOcean fabric which is made using recycled ocean-bound PET bottles.
