Diwali is right around the corner, and we’re sure you’re ready to spend it looking your best and enjoying the festivities to the fullest. While you might want to put your best stylish foot forward when it comes to your outfit, there are some things that you can be mindful of during the festival of lights, diyas and poojas among other things. Here’s your way to a safer Diwali!
Be aware when wearing flammable fabrics
Natural fabrics like cotton and silk, something most commonly used in Indian wear are very easily flammable since the fabric is thin. Be careful around diyas and candles with elaborate outfits on, especially if they’re of a cotton, linen or silk blend.
Keep laces, trims and doris at a safe distance
It’s not just the fabric but also trims, laces and doris used in lehengas, kurtas and blouses that can catch fire easily. Make sure they’re securely tied up when you have them on. This will make sure they’re at a safe distance from any fire form.
Try belted drapes to contain all the volume
We get it, Indian wear is sometimes incomplete without that statement drape, be it a dupatta or a saree. While these look amazing, the volume makes the outfits super elaborate. Something you can do to prevent the fabric from accidentally running into a candle is to use a belt to secure and manage the volume, especially when you’re close to diyas and candles.
Be careful when using sanitisers
While it’s the norm to sanitise your hands often these days t, remember that they’re super flammable. Stick to the 20-second hand wash practice, especially while lighting diyas or candles. Make sure you do not have any sanitiser residue on your clothes and accessories.
