With our ‘Free Of Rules’ series, we’re here to bust age-old fashion myths related to age, size, height and many more criteria that tend to dictate what women wear. Let’s face it- it’s 2022, and it’s time for the short and tall girl gangs to unite in breaking away from unnecessary fashion rules!
Rule To Ditch #1: Avoid maxis if you’re shorter
The maxi length is a real life saver on hot or lazy days, so it’s time to break this myth for good. As long as your maxi isn’t long enough to make your trip over, you’re good on the fashion front. Slits with any maxi silhouette can give you an added illusion of height if you’re just starting out with the length.

Rule To Ditch #2: No heels if you’re taller and only heels if you’re shorter
Your height should definitely have no say in your shoe picks. So if you’re team heels or team sneakers, or even both, feel free to pick what you like and most importantly, what will keep you comfortable, without any pressure from fashion rules.

Rule To Ditch #3: Avoid crop tops if you’re taller
Crop tops have become cult favourites over the last few years. A cropped top or shirt paired with a high-waist bottom has become a go-to for many. While the high waist with the cropped silhouette does add the illusion of a longer lower body, if it’s something you enjoy wearing, all you need to do is embrace the look and ignore any fashion rules!
Rule To Ditch #4: Wide legs will make you look shorter if you’re short
This fashion myth is not only unnecessary but also inaccurate. There are many wide leg styles that actually flatter people with shorter heights, especially ones with a high or mid waist. That said, the silhouettes you pick must feel good and make you feel confident above all!
