Abha Singhal didn't see khichdi merely as food; she recognized it as a source of comfort, nostalgia, and love. She not only revolutionised the market with this cherished dish but also reimagined it, making it a favourite among fussy eaters too. With her inventive and flavourful combinations, Abha is on a mission to elevate khichdi to an internationally beloved meal and a wholesome alternative to junk food. Her vision is to turn a humble dish into a global culinary sensation.
With no capital but a strong willingness to take risks, Singhal left her modelling career at its peak to pursue her entrepreneurial dreams. She aimed to create employment opportunities for women everywhere. Remarkably, this idea struck her during her career peak, when she realized a gap in the market which was wide open for this Indian comfort food. With just her savings, Abha Singhal opened a small, hand-painted store, setting up a basic kitchen with second-hand goods. Little did she know where this dream would take her. When COVID hit, Abha stepped up, serving khichdi to those in need and becoming a neighbourhood hero. Khichdi to the rescue!
Abha earned a scholarship to Kingston University, London, where she completed an MBA in Marketing. Her dreams were so lofty that her family couldn't immediately grasp their full potential. She left the confines of her home to reach her goal which was simple yet ambitious: to take khichdi to an international market, and create a healthier alternative to junk food. Her journey is a testament to resilience and innovation, transforming a heartfelt idea into a global mission.
Abha meticulously researched the market, channelling all her energy into creating flavorful combinations that resonated with her target audience. She and her team crafted over 30 unique flavours, from protein-rich khichdi to chilli cheese and soya khichdi, ensuring there’s something for every palate. Their success proves that with dedication and creativity, even the simplest comfort food can become a worldwide sensation.Starting with a completely bootstrapped venture, Abha Singhal built a business from her savings, which is currently valued at around 50 crores, all centred on our humble khichdi! With an annual turnover of 8-10 crores, she is soaring high as an entrepreneur, proving that passion and perseverance can transform even the simplest ideas into monumental success.
