As the Coronavirus pandemic pushed people around the world indoors, home was no longer just a place for one to unwind. From work and chores, to working out and celebrating, homes were now buzzing day in and day out. With leaving the house restricted to essentials, online gaming boomed in India. According to Sensor Tower (provider of market intelligence and insights for the global app economy) between Q1 to Q2 2020, India recorded the highest number of gaming app downloads around the world, followed by the United States and Brazil.
If you are a mobile gaming fan, here are a few games you could try, and make the most of your free time.
1. Among Us: This game is over two years old, but gained immense popularity in the last few months. The concept of this multi-member game is simple—find the imposter ‘among us’. Players are divided into crewmates and imposters and assigned tasks. The goal of the crewmates is to complete each job, while the imposter has to pretend to be doing the same while stealthily killing each crew member. A crewmate can also call for an emergency meeting to help zero in on the imposter based on suspicion.
2. Call of Duty: In this first-person shooter game that’s currently in its ninth season, you can team up or go on solo missions to the end goal of claiming victory over your opponents, and you even have the option of switch perspectives from first person shooter to third person shooter. What’s more, you can choose between Multiplayer mode and Battle Royal, and complete various tasks to unlock weapons or characters.
3. Ludo King: Who can beat the comfort of the good ol’ Ludo? Play with your partner, parents or children, and get set for a memorable time. All you have to do is focus on keeping your opponents away from their houses.
4. Free Fire: Here’s another action-packed game that will keep you on your toes. It involves strategising to stay away from enemies, and ensuring you rake in all supplies necessary for you/your team’s survival on the island. Get set, go!
5. Brain Wash: This game revolves around puzzles, however, if you are expecting difficult ones, you might be disappointed. The idea is not to throw up a challenge, but to delight you with simple tasks which are ideal for a quick break from your WFH routine or chores.
