Embark on a sensory journey to explore the brilliance of various art forms and their expressions at this first-of-its-kind, multi-disciplinary cultural space envisioned by Nita M Ambani, starting from April 3, 2023.
1) The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation
When a musical paragon meets theatrical mastery to showcase the spirit of India, 'The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation' is born. The crowning jewel of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, The Grand Theatre is all set to raise the curtains with this musical masterpiece by director Feroz Abbas Khan. The musical extravaganza will capture the essence of India through the convergence of music, dance and other traditional art forms.
Featuring 350+ artists including a 55-piece live orchestra led by the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, the production brings together exceptional Indian talent such as Ajay-Atul (music), Vaibhavi Merchant (guest choreographer), Mayuri Upadhya (lead choreographer), Samir and Arsh Tanna (choreographers), Manish Malhotra (costume design) and internationally celebrated, multiple award-winners such as Donald Holder (lighting design), Neil Patel (scenic design), Gareth Owen (sound design) and John Narun (projection design).
2) India In Fashion
An amalgamation of artistic brilliance and adaptations, fashion gets a new sartorial narrative this season at the ‘India in Fashion’ showcase to be held at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NAMCC). One where you don’t just see, but experience fashion. This first-of-its-kind exhibition in India has been envisioned as an artistic confluence of Indian and global fashion sensibilities. An exploration of the impact of Indian fashion ethos on global fashion, the exhibition curated by Hamish Bowles, will feature over 100 iconic India-inspired pieces sourced from museums around the world.
The showcase will feature works of Indian designers like Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Anamika Khanna, Anita Dongre, Anuradha Vakil, Manish Arora, Manish Malhotra, Rahul Mishra, Ritu Kumar, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Sanjay Garg, and Tarun Tahiliani. These will be complemented by the works of their global counterparts like Christian Dior, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Elsa Schiaparelli, Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, Jean-Philippe Worth, Mainbocher, and Yves Saint Laurent. 3) Sangam/Confluence
A haven for art connoisseurs, the Art House, a dedicated visual art space at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre will hold its first art exhibition, Sangam/Confluence, this April to celebrate Indian culture and heritage. As the name suggests, the exhibition brings together the best of the east and the west through the artworks of Indian and international artists that are inspired by India. The exhibition is co-curated by American curator Jeffrey Deitch and India’s leading cultural theorist Ranjit Hoskote. The works of Indian artists showcasing at the exhibit, Bharti Kher, Bhupen Khakhar, Ranjani Shettar, Ratheesh T and Shantibai and their global counterparts, Anselm Kiefer, Cecily Brown, Francesco Clemente, Lynda Benglis, and Raqib Shaw, have all been deeply inspired by India.
