When it comes to social media skincare hacks, we’re often a little wary and with good reason. Trying out a random hack without consulting a professional–especially when you have specific skin concerns you’re treating with oral or topical medicines can backfire. But when it comes to makeup, we’re all ready to dive in. When we were at a loss for how to deep clean our beauty blenders, Instagram users really came through with their bizarre but efficient hacks. It only makes sense to stay updated with their latest hacks, right?
Using a frozen beauty blender to apply foundation
Wondering why anyone would do that to their beauty blender? We’re with you. While some makeup enthusiasts have claimed that this technique helps with de-puffing and smoother application, there are an equal number of sceptics who have rubbished this method. If you still want to try it, the hack is simple. Run your beauty blender under the tap and then pop it in the freezer for an hour. Use it to pat your foundation all over your face.
Using a face roller to apply foundation
Another bizarre hack that has divided the internet. If you love a full-coverage foundation finish, try blending the formula with a jade or quartz face roller. Popularised by the makeup artist Avonne Sunshine, this method is claimed to “shrink your pores” and “evenly distributes the product.” While there are mixed reviews about this makeup tip, we suggest trying it if it piques your interest.
Side-to-side mascara application
If you’re depending on a lash primer or falsies for fuller, voluminous lashes, this hack might make you do a double-take. Begin by pulling your skin taut at the outer corner of the eyes. Holding your mascara wand vertically, comb your lashes in a zig-zag motion from side to side to ensure all the hair has been coated with the formula from the end to the tip. Then comb your lashes as usual and you’re done!
Cut-crease eyelash curler
This one is by far the easiest way to nail a cut-crease eye make-up look. Simply close your eyes and pop your lash curler in the crease of your eye. Take an eyeshadow of your choice and dust it over the lash curler. Voila! You have a cut crease sans any concealer.
Before trying out any of these hacks, we recommend you to understand the techniques and consult an expert.
