Over the last year and a half, we’ve all had moments where we’ve found ourselves scrambling to fix our appearance just before a Zoom meeting. Suddenly, we realise we’ve not combed out hair since morning and the camera is making you look washed out. Sounds familiar?
Looking good across a phone or computer screen can seem downright impossible but with our tips, we aim to demystify the process. If you’re looking to experiment during your work-from-home stint, try these beauty hacks.
Natural light is a gamechanger
If you have the chance to sit in front of a window, grab it. Not only will take immediately give you luminous skin, but the golden light will make you look fresher in seconds.
Or try a ring light
Dim lights will cause shadows on your face. To prevent this, invest in a ring light or avoid being backlit (sitting against the window). While you’re at it, try to keep your phone or laptop screen at eye level to avoid awkward camera angles.
Look fresh
Next up, grab a concealer and tap it into your skin wherever you feel like you need some coverage. Using a lighter concealer will immediately brighten up your whole face.
Don’t skip mascara…
To look more awake, grab your beauty BFF aka some mascara, and swipe it on your lashes. Don’t be afraid to be generous as it will help define your eyes.
Or eyeshadow
If you’ve got the time, tap on some natural coloured shadow on your lids. This will make your eyes look wider.
Go for a natural flush
Adding a pop of colour to the apples of your cheeks can help fight the washed-out effect of the computer camera. Opt for brighter, warmer hues to nail a sun-kissed glow.
Try a statement lip
The best part of wearing a statement lip colour is that it commands attention. You really don’t have to apply anything else–think of it as jewellery for your face. If you’re looking for a sharper look, go all in and swipe the formula all over your pout, and for a softer look, blot with a tissue.
Fluff up your hair
The quickest way to fix flat hair? Hang your head upside down and massage your scalp. Flip your hair back and part it in the opposite direction than you normally would. Voila! You’re done.
