When it comes to make-up, we all have different viewpoints. For some, wearing make-up is like a shield, and for others, it is what adds tons of joy to their day. Just last month, we joined our favourite LGBTQIA+ beauty creators and celebrated Pride month, and to be honest, we believe that their talent should be amplified today and every day. These content creators and influencers are painting their nails and faces, and owning their looks while challenging societal norms of what ‘beauty’ looks like. Make-up is their beauty playground and their faces, canvases.
Scrolling on the ‘gram and double tapping is easy, but let’s take a minute to appreciate the sheer talent and hard work these creators put in to put together their stunning make-up looks. Along with that, they also share their stories, ultimately uplifting others, making them feel seen, and inspiring them to stay true to themselves.
Some of the people on our list may have already dazzled you with their work. After all, they are famous for not only leaving an indelible mark in the beauty space but for starting conversations with their content. They’re also the perfect representation of what it means to love and accept yourself, no matter what. If you have not had a chance to follow them yet, hit that button now!
Deep Pathare (@justdeepdrama)
A fashion design student, Deep is a content creator who has amassed over 20,000 followers on Instagram thanks to his honesty, colourful make-up, and sass. From visual effects-inspired make-up to daytime glam, he nails every kind of look there is. We would be remiss if we didn’t give his Thursdays #WeepWithDeep sessions a mention, where he invites his followers to send in rants about any and everything that is on their mind.
Jason Arland (@jason_arland)
A model, make-up artist and influencer, Jason’s carefully created make-up looks are gorgeous, to say the least! Expect experimental make-up, rhinestones, and graphic eyeliner and more. He keeps things very real on his Instagram page: Unedited pictures, actual product names, skin texture, and easy-to-recreate looks.
Durga Gawde (@durgagawdestudio)
Picking a single look to sum up, non-binary artist, model and sculptor, Durga Gawde was a challenge only because they have an extensive collection of bold and bright looks on their Instagram page. They like to play with dreamy washes of colour on their eyes, and often layer their lids with sharp liner. The make-up moments get better with every scroll!
Joan Dominic Rai (@thewhitehairedguy)
We can only imagine the painstaking effort that gender-fluid influencer Joan puts into his sartorial choices. Our jaws hit the floor when we came across his Instagram Explore page, and his beauty recreations are an absolute delight to look at!
