When it comes to the festive season, we all have our go-to rituals that bring us peace and happiness. It could be something as simple as applying a DIY face mask or taking time out to unwind with your near and dear ones.
With vocal for local being our mantra, we’re always on the lookout to shine the spotlight on upcoming beauty brands. What better time to show them support than Diwali, right? To better understand the processes behind the products from some of India’s top-shelf beauty brands, we reached out to the powerhouses aka founders to chat about Diwali, their favourite festive rituals, and what we can expect from the brands in the coming year…
Kanishka Jain, Founder of Dromen & Co
What does Diwali mean to you?
“For me, it stands for togetherness and prosperity. The idea is to love and be loved!”
My favourite festive ritual includes… “A good face massage using a jade gua sha along with our Rose Collagen Skin Mask.”
How is Dromen & Co celebrating Diwali?
“We’re blessed to be lucky enough to be in a position to help others. We’re donating sanitizing equipment to orphanages and to the homeless. My heart breaks for those children who have lost one or both of their parents to COVID-19 so this cause is very close to my heart.”
What’s coming up for the brand in the year ahead?
“We’re leaning towards making the brand completely eco-friendly and sustainable–everything from packaging to manufacturing, all of it. We’re also planning to host fun interactive sessions with people who want to learn more about face yoga and massages.”
Kajol Bafna, Founder of Boss Lady Cosmetics

“Tons of cruelty-free and vegan make-up goodies!”
Rameshwari Seth, Co-Founder of Neemli Naturals
What does Diwali mean to you?
“For me, it’s always been simple. As children, we used to make our own light-emitting patakas and sweets and light a lot of diyas.”
My favourite festive beauty ritual includes… “Looking back on the DIY fireworks we used to make at home. My father used to get some long twigs and wrap the ends in rags. This was dipped in oil and we used to burn them around the house.”
How is Neemli Naturals celebrating Diwali?
“This year we don’t have any big plans; just wish everyone a very happy and healthy Diwali.”
What’s coming up for the brand in the year ahead?
“We have a big launch coming up in about a month and in the year ahead, we will continue our commitment towards creating clean skincare products.”
Aishwariya Sawarna Nir, Founder of Global Beauty Secrets
What does Diwali mean to you?
“Diwali brings with itself the onset of winter and I love feeling the gentle warmth emanating from the lights of the diyas on an otherwise cold night.”
My favourite festive ritual includes… “Worshipping Goddess Lakshmi for wealth and abundance, and Lord Ganesha for wisdom. I really enjoy the traditional sweets as well as the Diwali prep like cleaning my home and decorating it with diyas and rangolis.
I love indulging in some extra skincare steps like applying a layer of milk on my face every day for about five minutes. A hack that saves my dry lips involves slathering on malai on my lips! It really does the trick!”
How is Global Beauty Secrets celebrating Diwali?
“Every year, the team gets together and decorates our office. We then have a puja and exchange gifts and pray for prosperity and abundance for all.”
What’s coming up for the brand in the year ahead?
“We are certainly becoming more ambitious about our product range and will be adding a few new launches to the existing line-up.”
